I wil be playing a lunchtime recital at St Swithun's Worcester to commemorate the anniversary of the death of St. John the Baptist. St Swithun's Recitals will use the 1795/1844 Gray/Nicholson organ, restored by Goetze & Gwynn in 2010, and also the Wetheringsett Organ (2002), the reconstruction of a Tudor organ of c.1530 currently on loan.

Just an note: if you are coming to hear Lady Georgianna tonight at the late night shopping in Broadway you'll want to go into Cotswold Court (the arcade) as we'll be there, rather than the Green in the High Street.
The High St entrance is just to the right of Tisane's tea room.

Another successful Worcester Early Music Weekend! Seeing people smile puts a smile on my face; the dancers doing 'Strip the Willow' at the ball, the adults who tried out improvisation for the first time in their lives, and the toddlers who enjoyed nursery rhymes were the highlights for me.

Jun 30, 2009
This website was built using 'CMS made simple' Content Management System.
earlymusica is a site devoted to early music events administered by Micaela Schmitz of Early Music in the Vale.
What is early music?
It's not music that takes place early in the morning.
It's not necessarily for 'early years' or those aged 0-7, although it can include them!
It's not necessarily 'music up to 1800', although it can include that.
It's music of an earlier time performed, taught and enjoyed with a bit of knowledge:
We take music from a long time ago, add experience of original instruments, throw in a bit of history, and knowledge of society, and then use our common sense and creativity to make 'a best guess' or an 'informed guess' on how to do it. And then... we put it into a format that lots of people can enjoy.
This is really only meaningful if we experience the actual act of live music and share it as widely as possible; otherwise it's just an argument about whether something is C natural or C sharp.
If you enjoy music, then you should enjoy early music. Welcome to the feast!
We have a particular interest in activities for children and young people, so you'll find many activities posted here.
