Education >> Raising Voices

Raising Voices is a new initiative led by Micaela Schmitz.
Thsi is about music education and getting it to happen with the right foundations.
When we raise our children we want them to have good manners, good values, and good communication skills as well as having the three R's. This takes reinforcement from an early age.
It is the same with a good music education. The foundation of this is singing and movement.
Our children learn music in a logical order, and progress through learning sol-fa, a system first designed in the U.K (and now internationlly known by the Kodaly method). These principles also underpin the Voices Foundation work and curriculum.
Improvisation is part of this process and movement reinforces musical learning.Singing alone does take place, in the context of fun games and using teamwork. Knowing how to take children through the steps is not a given, and the course will cover correct pitching, useful approaches, and tips for helping children through the (pre-) school day.

NEW- Training day Thursday 30 June 2016 at Chipping Campden Library.
Bookings are now being taken. Cost is £60/£40 with hot drink provided. Bring own bag lunch.
